Whangarei Boys High School delivers outstanding career guidance and direct transition support, ensuring every student leaves with a clear post-school plan, strong employer connections, and the practical skills needed for success in work, training, or tertiary study.
Careers & Transition
Led by Mrs B. Jenkins and a dedicated careers team, the school provides personalised pathways from Year 11 onward. Through Pathways to Success (11PTS), Trades & Workforce Pathways (Y12–13), and weekly Gateway placements, students gain real workplace experience, industry credits, First Aid, driver education, CVs, interview practice, and financial literacy.
One-on-one mentoring, employer meet-and-greets, apprenticeship application support, and strong relationships with Northland businesses, ITOs, polytechnics, and universities result in the majority of students moving straight into paid apprenticeships, employment, or further study.
