Sport is central to life at Whangārei Boys’ High School. Through sport, our boys learn discipline, teamwork, resilience, and pride in representing their school. We believe participation matters, and we encourage boys of all abilities to get involved, whether they are aiming for high-performance pathways or simply enjoying being active and part of a team.
WBHS students can represent the school in more than 25 sporting codes, ranging from traditional sports such as rugby, cricket, and football to specialist and emerging codes including sailing, shooting, and waka ama. Weekend fixtures, Northland championships, and national tournaments are a regular part of the sporting calendar.
School spirit plays a strong role in our sporting culture, with the Supporters’ Army and Sports Committee helping to create colour, noise, and pride at major fixtures. Sport at WBHS is about belonging, commitment, and wearing the school colours with mana.
