At Whangārei Boys’ High School, clear expectations help create a learning environment where every student can learn and every teacher can teach. These expectations are consistent with those in schools across Aotearoa New Zealand and are in place to ensure safety, respect, and fairness for all.
Core School Expectations
All students are expected to:
- Treat people, possessions, and property with respect
- Arrive on time, correctly dressed, and fully equipped for learning
- Follow instructions promptly and remain on task
- Remain within school boundaries at all times
These expectations apply in classrooms, during breaks, and at all school-related activities.
Digital Devices
All students are required to bring a Chromebook or suitable digital device to school each day to support learning across the curriculum.
Devices are to be used responsibly and only for learning purposes during class time, as directed by teachers.
Mobile Phone Policy
To support focus and engagement in learning, mobile phones must be off and out of sight during class time.
If a phone is used inappropriately:
- First offence: Confiscated by the teacher and returned at the end of the period
