Whangarei Boys and Girls High Schools are excited to be hosting the 44th annual Te Tai Tokerau Festival. Look out for our detailed information coming soon.
When and where will be pōwhiri be?
The pōwhiri will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday 10 April in the Whangarei Girls High School Gymnasium.
Parking and arrival
Parking for cars is available on the school site. Please follow signage as appropriate. Please keep the Whangarei Boys High School bus bay clear of vehicles, as school buses will be operating as normal. The bus bay at the front of the school may be used for pick up and drop off only, including buses. Bus parking locations will be advised closer to the time, however, please be aware that this will not be on the Whangarei Girls High School site.
When will changing rooms be available?
Each School will have a room available on the day of their performance. You will be let into your room on your arrival at Whangarei Girls High School. Your school may access this room during the day for storage, changing etc. More details will be supplied in your welcome pack on the day.
Where are performances taking place?
Each Rōpū will perform twice, first in the Auditorium, then in the Gym. Days and times will be confirmed as soon as possible.
What times will the performances be?
Performances are expected to begin at 12:00pm on Wednesday 10 April, and run through to approximately 6:30pm. On Thursday 11 April, performances are expected to start at 8:00am, running through to approximately 6:00pm. Times and order of schools will be confirmed once entries are received.
What are the stage dimensions?
The Auditorium stage will measure 12 metres wide, by 8.4 metres deep
The Gymnasium stage will measure 12 metres wide by 8.4 metres deep
Performers will access the stage from stage left
What is the maximum number on stage?
There should be no more than 40 performers on stage.
Where will Kaumatua and Kuia be hosted?
Kaumatua and Kuia will be hosted at the back of the Theatre Hall. Please give an indication of how many people will be supporting your school on the registration form. This is to give us an idea of numbers for catering purposes.
What lunch options will be available?
More information about lunch options will be available soon. This is in addition to food stalls on site over the two days.
Where do I get more information during the festival?
We will have staff and students to support your rōpū over the two days of the festival, as well as a
centrally located information tent
Will Eftpos be available during the festival?
Yes – a cash station will be operating during the festival – a small withdrawal fee will apply.
