Sports Results Term 2 Week 10 and Holidays

Rugby 

WBHS 1st XV – 5 played Massey High School – 17 (Loss)

Mid Week Rugby – Wednesday 

WBHS 1st XI – 67 played Bay of Islands College – 0 (Win)

WBHS U15 -36 played   Whangarei Combined Team – 5  (Win)

Hockey – Thursday 13th July

WBHS 1st XI RM – 2 played Springfield – 0 (Win)

Collegiate – Monday 26th June

Division 1

WBHS Black – 2 played Pompallier 1st XI – 0 (Win) 

WBHS Gold – 6 played HoraHora 1st XI – 0 (Win)

WBHS Yellow – BYE

Division 2

WBHS Blue – 2 played Huanui 2nd XI -0 (Win)

Hockey – Tanner Cup

WBHS YR 9 & 10 Hockey Team Congratulations to our Under 15 Hockey team, silver medalists in the Tanner Cup! The final was very even with both teams creating a number of scoring opportunities. New Plymouth Boys’ High School won the Tanner Cup in 2023.

Hockey – Warner Shield Tournament

WBHS won 2-1 against Christ’s College from Christchurch.

WBHS won 4-1 against St Paul’s Collegiate 

WBHS lost in the final to Westlake Boys’ High School 4-1

Football – Mid Week (Wednesday) at 4.00pm

WBHS 2nd XI – 0 played Kerikeri High School- 3

WBHS YR 10 – BYE

NZSS Rogaining Championship

Oscar Ruffell and Alex Watson travelled to Marlborough Sounds to compete in the Rogaine Championship and placed 8th overall. 

NSSSA Cross Country 

The Senior Boys race was a 6km run through a very muddy Barge Park. Oscar Ruffell placed 5th, Tai Pullen 6th, Tommy Earl 8th and Mason Gray 10th

The Junior Boys race was a 4km run. Rhys Jones placed 1st with a time of 15 mins 22 seconds and Zac Raine placed 8th. 

Football

Congratulations to Year 13 Prefect and Poutama Whānau Captain Jackson West, playing in the NZ Māori Men’s Football team. Jackson went on his senior international debut for Maori Football NZ against the Australian Indigenous Football team on the Gold Coast. Great to see our local players achieving international selection. Well done again Jackson.
