Swimming
NSSSA Swimming Champs were held last week at the Whangarei Aquatic
Centre.
U19 – Ry Luff: 1st in 50m Breaststroke, 1st in 50m Butterfly and 1st in 100m

U16 – Jackson Whitehead: 2nd in 50m Freestyle, 3rd 50m Breaststroke and ?? in
100m Freestyle
U16 – Te Mana Atutolu: 1st in 50m Freestyle, 1st in 100m Freestyle and ??? in 50m
Backstroke
U14 – Jacob Pascoe: 1st in 50m Backstroke, 1st in 100m Backstroke and ?? in 50m

Water Skiing
In January Josh Wainwright competed for New Zealand in the U17 World Water
Ski Championships in Santiago Chile. He competed in Jump and Slalom and
jumped a personal best of 39.2m.
This month Josh travelled to Australia to compete in the Aussie vs Kiwi
challenge in Albury-Wodonga. He won a Bronze medal for jump and was 4th in
Slalom. Some outstanding results including a 40.4m in jump and 2 at 58km on
the 12m shortening in slalom.
Cricket
WBHS Cricket team travelled to Hamilton to compete in the Northern District
Finals and placed 6th overall and qualified for next year’s tournament.

NISS Athletics
Quintis Blignaut travelled to Palmerston North to compete in the North
Island Athletics Championships. He threw 42.01m in the Javelin giving
him 5th place and threw 10.80m in the Shotput placing him 10th in the
North Island. Well done.
Hockey 5 Aside
WBHS had 3 teams compete last week and the WBHS Teams did very well.
Stand Up Paddleboarding
Devin Armstrong and Cayden Wells travelled to Waipapa, Kerikeri to
compete in the SUP event. A great fun day for all the Northland Schools
who attended.
Clay Target Shooting
WBHS Clay Target Shooters competed in Whangarei on the weekend.
The following participants won the competition with a score of 410:

Inter-Whanau Rowing
The first ever Inter Whanau Rowing event was held in the Gym and was
a huge success. 40 boys competed in teams of 8 rowing for an hour as a
team on a Concept 2 rower. Whanau flags were flying and music set the
atmosphere.
After rowing for over 17km, first and second place were separated by
only 59m.
1st – Unaunahi 17.195 km
2nd – Poutama 17.136km
3rd – Kaokao 16.768 km
4th – Mangopare 16.146km
5th – Niho Taniwha 15.584 km
Total distance rowed was 82.829km.
