Re: Notification of closure dates in Term 2
Thursday 30 May Work Day and Friday 31 May Teacher Only Day
I would like to take this opportunity to notify you of two teacher only days scheduled to take place at the end of May. On Thursday 30 May, WBHS staff will undertake professional learning development on wellbeing, and students will be involved in their workday commitments.
On Friday 31 May, a regional Northland wide teacher only day for Education to Employment (E2E) seminar will take place at WBHS to bring teachers up to date with Northland’s improving economic outlook and employment opportunities for youth.
Parents / Caregivers should note that there will be no normal timetabled classes offered on these days.
This year Workday will be held on Thursday 30 May. On this day students are asked to find employment and return their payment to the school. Juniors are expected to return a minimum of $25 and Seniors $30. Any students who do not participate are expected to be at school for the entire day where they will be supervised.
We often get members of the community contacting the school with offers of employment for the day. If you, or someone you know, has some jobs that need doing (lawn mowing, gardening, etc) please contact the school on 430 4170 or email [email protected] with details.
All students have been given an official letter from their whanau teacher to show employers.
Three Way Whanau Conferences – Thursday 4 July to Friday 5 July
Whangarei Boys’ High School will be scheduling a conference with yourself, your son and his Whanau Teacher (or Year level Dean if Whanau Teacher is not available) on Thursday 4 July or Friday 5 July. The meeting will take about 20 minutes.
The purpose of this conference is for the school to discuss the mid-year Academic Report with your son and yourself – to support him in achieving to his highest potential. Further details will be sent home nearer to the time.
