Dear WBHS Community
Following our lockdown event yesterday, we would like to remind you about our communication strategy at times like this.
Communication with our community will primarily be via email and by updating the school website. www.wbhs.school.nz
We understand that for some individual email addresses outgoing communication was not received in a timely manner. We apologise for this. Our IT staff are working to resolve this with urgency.
Secondary modes of communication will include posting to our school facebook page https://www.facebook.com/whangareiboys/ , which we encourage you to follow – and through the School App.
You can download the School App here:Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nz.school.apps.container Apple (iPhone): itunes.apple.com/us/app/schoolappsnz/id1299777519?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4You will need your KAMAR login details to do this.
The school website remains the primary source of outgoing communication during an emergency.
The following message will be delivered to all students this morning:
Many thanks for your co-operation and good behaviour during the lockdown yesterday. We understand that there may still be some upset and confusion about yesterday’s events. Staff responded swiftly as per our Emergency Mangement plan. We notified the NZ Police and working alongside them, they made the call to involve the New Zealand Defence Force Bomb Disposal Unit. The NZDF removed a small device from the school fields yesterday afternoon. No one was harmed during the incident. We can assure you that there is no further risk to students or staff related to this incident. Should you require any support, please make contact with the staff at Te Awatea. We would like to thank you again for your cooperation in following our Emergency procedures – this allows us to put student and staff safety at the forefront and ensures we maintain a safe and healthy environment.
